October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as a company we have pledged to do everything we can to help spread the word and support the cause.

Our local partner is ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, a local charitable organization that offers a mentor program for those diagnosed with breast cancer and we have a goal of $10,000 to raise throughout the month for them.

The fashion show is our largest fundraising event and we are thrilled to have the support of Milwaukee Magazine and B93.3 this October to help us make it the best IBW fashion show to date! The theme is the Heart Lands which coincides with the Aveda Limited Edition Fall Collection and our passion to support the local community as we hope to feature local Milwaukee Fashion Designer talent at the show. In addition, we will be recognizing our 2013 Industry Icon winner, Kitty Tierney, owner of Impressions Salon in Mequon. Tierney has lead a positive example for over 10 years to our students with her dedication to community outreach, diversity, environmental awareness, and local industry focus.

Tickets can be purchased online, in-store (327 East St. Paul Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202) or by calling 414.227.2889.  VIP tickets include a reserved seat and private bar area with complimentary appetizers to enjoy before the show.

The mission at ABCD is to provide free, personalized information and one-to-one support to people in eastern Wisconsin who are affected by breast cancer. While science searches for a cure, ABCD complements the work of health care providers by serving as a reliable, accessible and highly personalized resource for breast cancer patients and their loved ones.

ABCD trains volunteers to be Mentors and then matches them with people diagnosed with breast cancer and their families and loved ones. A Mentor keeps in touch with the participant by phone throughout the treatment process, providing information on local and national resources, and perhaps most important, the support of someone who’s “been there.” ABCD also operates the Breast Cancer Helpline, the only such telephone helpline in Eastern Wisconsin. [Source]
